My latest book Working-Class Suffragette, the Life of Annie Kenney was published in Decmeber 2018 to mark the centenary of the granting of votes for (some) women. A statue of Annie, funded by public subscription, was unvelied in Oldham's Parliament Square, in December 2018. The book is available on Amazon as a paperback or eBook. It is also be purchased from: Towpath Books, High Street, Uppermill, The Reclamation Room Coffee Shop, Lee St. Uppermill, Milano Lounge, Parliament Square Oldham, Gallery and Library Oldham, Greaves St. Oldham, The People's History Museum Manchester, John Rylands Library, Manchester. It will soon be available from the Pankhurst Centre, Nelson St. Manchester.

I am an author with a special interest in local and regional history. I was born and brought up in Oldham and have two grown up sons and five grandchildren. I live in Saddleworth, an area of Oldham, with my husband Nigel.

I followed my interest in history by gaining a MA in The History of the Manchester Region at Manchester Metropolitan University. It was during research for a dissertation that I became aware of the many achievements of Mary Higgs.

Since retirement I have also been able to focus on research and writing. I felt that the work of Mary Higgs should be better known. I needed more information. After extensive research, my book The Amazing Mary Higgs was published in 2011. It is now available on Amazon  as a paperback or eBook.

In 2017 our writing group, Oldham Writing Cafe, published its second anthology. I contributed a poem, a monologue, a play and two short stories. Today's Specials, was shortlisted for a competition run by the  National Association of Writers' Groups.

I am a member of Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society, Lancashire Authors' Association, Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society, Oldham and District U3A, Oldham Writers' Café and Oldham Coliseum Theatre Full Circle.

I am happy to give talks about Mary Higgs and Annie Kenney.
